ADMISSIONS POLICY AND PROCESS
Ghent Montessori School is certified and is licensed by the Virginia Department of Education. The facility is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to health, fire and building codes.
The firm policy of our school is to welcome diversity in both the student body and staff. We enroll students and hire staff without regard to race, color, religion, gender, socio-economic status or national origin.
Required Steps for Enrolling:
1. Tour at Ghent Montessori School:
Entering Toddler House (18 months – 3 years old): Mondays at 10:00 AM. Tours will begin Mondays starting October 21, 2024. Families with perspective toddler children, will tour in groups of 5 or 6 families. The tour will be conducted by our Head of School and our Toddler-trained guide. This will last about an hour.
Toddler Tour Dates: October 21, November 4, November 18, December 2, and December 16.
Children’s House, Elementary, and Middle School Tour Schedule: Thursdays at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM starting October 18. Families will have an individual tour with the Head of School. This usually lasts 30 minutes to an hour.
2. Application and Application Fee: If you choose to apply, there will be a non-refundable $50 application fee.
3. Student Assessment: The student assessment is only required of Children’s House, Lower/Upper Elementary, and Middle School applicants – toddler applicants are NOT assessed. Children’s House assessment dates are listed below and Elementary/MS assessments are scheduled individually. Applicants are only eligible for an assessment once tour has been completed & application/fee are received.
Important Dates for Enrollment:
- January 31, 2025 – Children’s House Assessments conducted.
- February 3, 2025 – Re-enrollment sent out.
- February 28, 2025 – Children House Assessments conducted.
- February 17, 2025 – Re-enrollment DUE.
- February 28, 2025 – NEW Enrollment sent out.
- March 7, 2025 – NEW enrollment DUE.
Criteria for Acceptance of New Students
- The student’s readiness and willingness to learn
- The parent’s understanding and acceptance of our basic goals
- The student being the proper age
- The student being of the gender needed for class balance
Enrollment preference to the school is in the following order:
1. Re-enrollment of current students
2. Siblings of current students
3. Transfers from other Montessori schools
4. New students

After being notified of acceptance, a Tuition Contract must be signed and returned with a tuition deposit of $600 and a $100 new student fee within 10 days; both are non-refundable. The deposit is NOT applied to your tuition.
