Ghent Montessori School is a co-educational Montessori school educating children ages 18 months through the eighth grade. We have been serving the Hampton Roads community since 1978. 

At Ghent Montessori School, our mission is to encourage the total development of the child by meeting each child’s needs individually and by providing a prepared, comprehensive Montessori environment that cultivates independent thought, empathy for others, social awareness and confidence.

All of our classrooms are multi-age classrooms, usually with students ranging in 3-year spans, allowing each child an opportunity to experience being a newcomer and eventually a leader in the classroom community.

MANY ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED WHICH DIFFER FROM THOSE IN TRADITIONAL SCHOOLS. LEARNING IS INDIVIDUALIZED AND THE IMPULSE FOR LEARNING IS THE
SELF-MOTIVATION THAT EXISTS WITHIN EACH CHILD.
